At the northern end of town, in the Maâ district, old Landes-style houses co-exist harmoniously with more recent modern buildings. There, on the “Tuc de la Citadelle” hill in the pine forest, stands the Saint Laurent de Maâ chapel which provided shelter for pilgrims on the coastal route to Santiago de Compostela.
