Whether in the trees, on an all-terrain scooter, by canoe, or on foot, Camping Le Saint Martin offers 5 activities to explore the Landes de Gascogne forest, the largest forest in France, in a new way.
An all-terrain scooter ride
Looking for something original? In Messanges, you can go on an all-terrain electric scooter ride in the Landes forest. Fast, fun, and eco-friendly, the scooter is as comfortable on forest trails as it is on sunken paths. A fun and unusual way to discover the Landes forest! Another option: a longboard/cruiser ride on the bike paths that run along the forest with the Moliets Surf & Skate School.
A tree-climbing adventure… to stay ‘in the loop’
Does tree climbing appeal to you? Head to AdrĂ©naline Parc, an adventure course that lives up to its name! In the setting of the Landes forest, in Moliets, come and scramble through the treetops. The Landes tree-climbing park offers 24 different courses, with more or less acrobatic circuits and aerial obstacles for the most athletic. To vary the fun, other activities are available: paintball, quad biking, trampoline, catapult…
A connected treasure hunt in the forest
To discover the Landes forest with children (and get them walking without complaining!), there’s nothing better than a scavenger hunt! That’s what Terra Aventura offers, a treasure hunt inspired by geocaching. To participate, simply download the mobile application, then let yourself be guided through “The Fabulous Landes Forest”. An innovative, free, and open-to-all activity to explore the natural and cultural heritage of the Landes forest, its history, legends, and inhabitants.

A canoe descent on the Palue river
Go on a canoe-kayak adventure on the Palue river, in the heart of the Landes forest! Extending from the Huchet current nature reserve, this wild, narrow, and winding tributary of Léon lake offers one of the most beautiful and longest canoe descents in the Landes: 8 kilometers between Castets and Saint Michel Escalus, on the road to Linxe. Try it at nightfall for even more adventure and mystery! More info
A resin tapping demonstration
Like silviculture, resin tapping is an activity intimately linked to the history of the Landes pine forest. It is a technique that involves incising pine trunks to collect resin (gemme). While the activity almost disappeared in the 1990s, a small number of enthusiasts continue to keep this ancient craft alive. In Vielle-Saint-Girons or Lit-et-Mixe, a forest outing will allow you to follow in the footsteps of a former resin tapper, with a resin tapping demonstration, discovery of traditional woodworking trades, and the current use of resin. Activity organized by the “MĂ©moire en Marensin” Association.
