On the southern coast of Landes, the Chênes-Lièges beach is one of the best-preserved beaches on the Landes coast. Far from the crowds, this beach is sure to enchant you! Discovery.
A haven of peace and serenity
Hidden behind a dune, a stone's throw from Moliets Golf Course, discover a beautiful wild beach, supervised in summer, very calm, with few people and plenty of space, beautiful waves, and fine sand that slips between your toes. Welcome to Chênes-Lièges Beach, south of Moliets!
Chênes-Lièges Beach is less crowded than Moliets' main beach, even in the middle of the summer season. This is partly due to its more difficult access, which makes it an ideal refuge for those seeking tranquility. Here, you'll have no trouble spreading out your towel without being right next to your neighbor: the beach stretches for over two kilometers, with no construction on the horizon, except for a lifeguard station ensuring the safety of swimmers. Just you, the sea, and the waves!
A wild beach, but supervised
Although wild, Chênes-Lièges beach is family-friendly and supervised in July and August, from 1 PM to 7 PM. A lifeguard station is set up at the main entrance. However, it is important to remain vigilant regarding rip currents. If you are traveling with young children, it is best to go at low tide, when a small "river" forms between the sea and the sand, allowing the little ones to splash around safely. Finally, to make swimming accessible to everyone, Tiralos (amphibious wheelchairs) are available for people with reduced mobility.
Beach access (bicycle highly recommended)
As beautiful as it is, Chênes-Lièges Beach in Moliets is earned, as it's not the easiest to access. There is a free parking lot, but it's tiny, with only about twenty spaces available. Suffice it to say, it's best to arrive early, or even very early. Furthermore, the municipal police regularly patrol to ticket improperly parked vehicles, and they show no mercy. So, beware of "tickets" on your windshields! You've been warned...
Therefore, it's better to opt for cycling. It's quite easy since the beach is served by a safe cycling path. On site, a parking area dedicated to two-wheelers is available. From the parking area, access is via a shaded path, through the pine trees and cork oaks. Allow about 10 minutes of walking (900 meters) from the parking area, passing over boardwalks to cross the dune and reach the beach.
A perfect surf spot for beginners
Nestled in a wild and preserved environment, , Chênes-Lièges beach offers ideal conditions for surfing in Landes: a less crowded spot, accessible to beginners, with small waves or more consistent rollers when the swell picks up. Enjoy your camping holiday in Moliets to introduce your children to surfing. The Golf Surf School, located at the top of the dune, offers group lessons, private lessons, holiday camps, introductory and advanced courses, as well as equipment rental.
