Looking for a breath of fresh air and family time? Want to see the sea and smell the forest? For your holidays, book your campsite on the Vélodyssée and explore the Landes, freewheeling with the wind in your hair!
Access the Vélodyssée directly from the campsite!
Ranked among the most beautiful cycle paths in the world, the Vélodyssée is the longest cycle route in France. It connects Brittany to the Basque Country along the Atlantic coast, over more than 1200 km of marked cycle paths. In the Landes department, the Vélodyssée covers nearly 160 km - from Biscarrosse to Tarnos - offering cycling enthusiasts beautiful getaways between beaches, dunes, lakes, and forests.
Located on the Vélodyssée route along the Landes coast, our Le Saint Martin campsite welcomes you to Moliets-Plage, an ideal starting point or stopover for discovering the Landes by bike. Here are two rides directly accessible from the campsite, heading north or south.
Cycle to the Contis lighthouse, without losing your way!
Here's a beautiful and long bike ride to discover the wild beauty of the Landes coast. Starting from Camping Le Saint Martin, hop on your bikes and cycle towards the village of Léon, its lake, and its Huchet current nature reserve. The ride continues towards Vielle-Saint-Girons, on the other side of the lake, in the calm of the pine forest, where 'airials' and large bourgeois residences resembling castles follow one another.
A few kilometers further, invigorated by the scent of pine resin and the song of cicadas, you reach the coast and Cap de l'Homy beach in Lit-et-Mixe. Ten kilometers long with golden sand, it's one of the wildest beaches on the Silver Coast. Between Lit-et-Mixe and Saint-Julien-en-Born, the Vélodyssée route runs along the coast amidst pines and dunes, all the way to Contis Plage and its famous black and white striped lighthouse, the one and only lighthouse on the Landes coast!
- Things to see and do along the way: the Huchet current which connects Léon lake to the Atlantic Ocean, the Lette Blanche beach between Léon and Vielle-Saint-Girons, the Contis lighthouse and its breathtaking view of the ocean and the Landes forest.
- Distance: 40 km, ride duration: 3h 30
Head south, all the way to Capbreton
From our Le Saint Martin campsite in Moliets, the route leads you onto the Camino de Santiago. Just a stone's throw from the ocean, the Vélodyssée makes its way into the Landes forest here. After a short stop in Messanges, a charming coastal village in Marensin, continue towards the small seaside resort of Vieux-Boucau, envied for its wild dune landscape and its Port d'Albret Marine Lake, created in the 1970s on the former bed of the Adour. It's possible to cycle around the 60-hectare lake (a 4 km loop). Unless you prefer to enjoy the atmosphere of Port d'Albret, have an ice cream on a terrace, or grab some tapas before hitting the road again.
Back in the saddle, we continue through the Soustons forest before reaching Seignosse, Hossegor, then Capbreton. Here we are in the heart of the Golden Triangle of the southern Landes coast. The slightly hilly path runs along the forest and the dune, crosses Hossegor lake, and leads to Capbreton port, the only fishing port in the Landes. End of this lovely ride on the Vélodyssée!
- Things to see and do along the way: Saint-Laurent chapel in Moliets, where a Knights Templar commandery stood in the 12th century, the 4 legendary beaches of Seignosse (Les Casernes, Le Penon, Les Bourdaines, Les Estagnots), Hossegor, its world-renowned surf spots and its marine lake, the port and fish market of Capbreton.
- Distance: 30 km, ride duration: 2h 30
