During the summer holidays, Le Saint Martin campsite, in Moliets in Les Landes, offers swimming lessons for children aged 6 and up. These lessons are taught by certified swimming instructors.
Now's the time to learn to swim!
Learning to swim is essential to prevent the risk of drowning and allow children to have fun safely at the pool, on the beach, or during water activities. If your child doesn't know how to swim, they can take swimming lessons during your stay at Le Saint Martin campsite.
Drowning is one of the main causes of accidents among children. It accounts for approximately 500 accidental deaths each summer. Children under 6 years old are particularly vulnerable and represent 15% of drowning deaths. Learning to swim is therefore a major public health issue for the youngest.
How are the swimming lessons conducted?
The swimming sessions are supervised by certified lifeguards (MNS). They take place during the summer holidays and are subject to a fee. The goal is to allow the child to become familiar with the aquatic environment and acquire the basics of "knowing how to swim".
The pool lessons help children gain confidence. The lessons are structured around the following learning objectives: entering and exiting the water, submerging, discovering buoyancy, body stability, positioning the head to breathe properly, orienting oneself in the water, etc.
Once these concepts are acquired, the instructor works on teaching swimming movements, such as the breaststroke, to enable the child to move around. The lessons are for children aged 6 and up, with no prior skill level required. Swimming sessions are reserved for campsite residents. Registrations are made directly at the reception, subject to availability.

Swimming Safety Tips
Here are some tips for your children to swim and have fun safely at the pool or on the beach.
- Rule number 1: accompany your children every time they want to swim. It is important never to take your eyes off your children.
- Equip them with inflatable armbands if they don't swim well. Make sure they bear the CE marking and NF standard 13138-1.
- Children should be prevented from running around the pool, as the slippery floor can cause falls.
- On the beach, choose a supervised swimming area with a lifeguard station, marked by a red and yellow flag.
