South of the Landes, Soustons makes the most of its five lakes to offer visitors a natural, sporty, and fun getaway. Each lake has something unique, there's something for everyone!
Port d'Albret Marine Lake: A day of swimming and water recreation
20 km from Le Saint Martin campsite, between Soustons-Plage and Vieux-Boucau, the Port d'Albret marine lake is a paradise for sports lovers. People come here to swim with the kids without the waves, and above all to enjoy a wide range of water sports: windsurfing, paddleboarding, canoeing and kayaking, and Hawaiian outrigger canoeing.
- For families: a developed beach with supervised swimming, a children's beach club, and a miniature port with electric boat replicas.
- Things to do: rent a rowboat or pedal boat to reach the wild island in the middle of the lake, walk or bike around the lake (4 km), or kayak or paddleboard down the Soustons current to Port d'Albret Marine Lake.
Soustons Pond, the large lake for anglers
A protected natural site, Soustons Pond spans 380 hectares in the heart of a calm and preserved environment. People come here to walk or cycle along the water's edge, enjoy sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, and canoeing-kayaking, and fish for pike, perch, black bass, and zander at Pointe des Vergnes, in the shade of large alders and bald cypresses. Grab your fishing rods!
Pinsolle Pond, the golfers' retreat
Among all the ponds in the commune, Pinsolle Pond is geographically the closest to the ocean. This small pond, neighboring Port d'Albret marine lake, is part of the Pinsolle Golf Course. This very beautiful 9-hole Landes course offers a unique experience, with an 'in-water' driving range open in the morning, and a classic one accessible all day.
White Pond, for feeling truly secluded
A protected natural site, White Pond spans 180 hectares, straddling the communes of Soustons, Seignosse and Tosse. It owes its name to its sandy bottom, which gives it a very clear hue with silvery reflections. It is a very popular spot for walkers, fishermen, and hunters. You can embark on a small rowboat and navigate among wild ducks, between reeds and ferns, with the rare feeling of being alone in the world.
Hardy Pond, the smallest and most secret
Located a stone's throw from its twin, White Pond, and connected to it by a small canal, Hardy Pond is the smallest and most secret in Soustons. With an area of 42 hectares, it is a true reservoir of biodiversity, hidden in the middle of a pine forest. Float-tube fishing is popular here. The pond is shallow and rich in fish. People also come here to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy the wild, preserved setting. Also read: What to do, what to see in Soustons, the pearl of Marensin
