To fill your vacation days, there’s nothing like a fishing trip with family or friends. Lakes, ponds, streams – the Landes region is full of great spots for angling. Here’s an overview of the best places to catch fish in the south of Landes!
Lake Léon
With an area of 340 hectares, Lake Léon is one of the largest lakes in Landes, half of which is classified as a nature reserve. Fishing enthusiasts can try their luck with big fish: black bass, pike, zander, and other perch are present in abundance. This second-category fishing spot is equipped with a pontoon for easy access for people with reduced mobility.
Soustons Pond
On the banks of Soustons Pond, in a peaceful and green setting, Pointe des Vergnes is often cited as one of the best fishing spots in Landes. This ‘water garden,’ besides being very pretty, is home to a very dense carp population. Between casts, you can grab a bite to eat in the shade of century-old alders and bald cypresses.
White Pond in Seignosse
Renowned for the quality of its water, Seignosse‘s White Pond (180 ha) is a prime location for pike fishing from the shore, by wading, or with a float tube. Located 5 km from the Landes beaches, this still-preserved fishing spot gets its name from the clarity of its sandy bottom and its silvery reflections. On-site, it’s possible to rent a boat for an even more rewarding experience.
Moliets Pond
Nestled in a Natura 2000 protected area, Moliets-et-Maa Pond (18 ha) should satisfy anglers looking for trophy fish. It is indeed a reserve dedicated to black bass reproduction: fish spawning grounds have been installed near the banks. Numerous access points, on the south and west sides, allow you to cast your line peacefully in the Landes forest. The pond is located just 5 minutes from our Landes campsite!

If you plan to fish in freshwater in Landes, it’s essential to know the regulations. Here is some useful information and links to consider before casting your line.
